Dear colleagues,

Due to the merger of the institutes of the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Environment of the State of São Paulo (Geologico, Florestal and Botânica) into the Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais, the Revista do Instituto Geológico has been renamed Derbyana. We are delighted to announce the launch of the initial volume:

The name is a tribute to Orville Adelbert Derby (1851-1915), one of the patrons of the Geosciences in Brazil and one of the founders of the Geographical and Geological Commission of São Paulo, created in 1886, which carried out pioneering research into soil, climate, geomorphology, geology and hydrography in the State of São Paulo. This scientific and expeditionary commission was the embryo of various research institutions in the state of São Paulo, such as the Geological Institute, the Forestry Institute, the Botanical Institute, the Geographical and Cartographic Institute, the Astronomical and Geophysical Institute, the Paulista Museum and the Zoology Museum.
