Geology of the São João da Boa Vista Sheet

Abstract

In São João da Boa Vista topographic sheet occur Pinhal Group (upper Pre-Cambrian (formed by migmatite-granites complex, and Itararé Group (upper Carboniferous-lower Permian) made up by Slandstones, siltstones and diamictites. Small alkali intrusion (tinguaite) and diabases sills and dikes are also present. The cenozoic sediments belong about two different depositional periods: Tertiary and Quaternary. lhe first one is characterized by unconsolidated sediments (sands and muds) most of themcovering the hills. The least is represented by alluvial deposits on river terraces.
