Abstract

This paper presents the fundamental conceptual issues related to the field called Technogenic Ground Analysis, which involves the study of processes, deposits, and landscapes created directly or indirectly by the human geological-geomorphological agency, adopting a multidisciplinary approach that, although based on Earth Science, is strongly related to the Humanities. This theoretical approach aims to provide the methodological foundation for the study of the current geological epoch, the Anthropocene, as well as of the anthropogenic Quaternary (Holocene and possibly Pleistocene) records.
